Nuremberg trial and judicial proceedings with protectorate government in Czech press
Jiříková, Eliška ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
In my bachelor thesis I deal with an analysis of the Nuremberg trial and judicial proceedings with protectorate government in the Czech press from October 1945 until October 1946. First I try to explain and describe the way to the Nuremberg trial and approximate the accused ones using professional literature. I did the same with the judicial proceedings with protectorate government. In this bachelor thesis I describe the most important acts for a rise of a tribunal in Nuremberg. I derive a description of a statute of a court and points of indictment from the professional literature. The process is described in articles from a period printing and the information is folded by the professional literature. I choose the same procedure and style in the second part of my bachelor thesis with the process with the protectorate government. The aim of my thesis is to analyze articles in the periodic press - Rudé Právo, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie, Právo lidu, to compare a prejudice, style and a form of informing of an individual press

The second part of the thesis - the practical part - is focused on a specific area (the municipality of Postoloprty) in which the acts of violence against the German population took place. In this part the thesis is mainly based on the work with testimonies of witnesses who were willing to share their experiences and memories. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the investigation from 1947 and finally the thesis deals in brief with the modern investigation. McCarthyism and it's picture in press
Šeliga, Vojtěch ; Pondělíček, Jiří (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
The thesis deals with the phenomenon of American history known as McCarthyism, and it does so in the context of the Cold War. The work focuses primarily on the role of the press, which significantly contributed to the emergence and later demise of McCarthyism. It also deals with international and internal reasons for the emergence of McCarthyism and the person of Senator McCarthy. Using data from the Gallup research shows the effects McCarthyism had on the American society. The work concludes that McCarthyism relied on the printed media support. The press tried to deliver the message, but did not comment on it, and it was the reader who was supposed to form their own opinion. Some journalists were afraid of retribution and others were in favour of or agreed with the anti-Communist campaign. Some newspapers saw the easy money that covering the Communist infiltration was bringing. Only a small portion of printed media actually criticized McCarthyism... The reasons for the emergence of McCarthyism relates mainly to the geopolitical situation. The Soviet Union had gained control over large parts of Eastern Europe and acquired the atomic bomb, the Communists had won the civil war in China, and would soon be clashing with the US in the Korean War. The society feared new world war. By contrast the end of...
Successes of the Zlín ice-hockey club as reported in chosen media
Jurák, Vojtěch ; Trunečka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the media presentation of three chosen successes the Zlín ice-hockey club has achieved since the 1990s. The practical part is constituted by a quantitative content analysis that studies three different types of newspaper and their online counterparts (a community paper the Zlínský deník, online at: zlinsky.denik.cz, a national paper with a developed regional supplement the Mladá fronta dnes, online at: idnes.cz and a national paper the Právo, online at: sport.cz) in three periods of time (the Czech ice-hockey league finals in 1995, 2004 and 2014). The analysis studied 873 media articles in total. In general, the extent of coverage increased strongly between the years 1995 and 2004. The coverage of the finals by the community media was the most detailed, just as supposed. Quite surprising was the extent of coverage by the Mladá fronta dnes that was larger than expected. The core of sports reporting didn't really change across time, titles or information channels. The news, stories and game evaluations comprised the biggest part of the coverage. But it was the form of reporting that kept changing. The most observable trends were the growth of visual content in time and the increasing position of the Internet. Especially in 2014, its usage was quite extensive.
